FAQ

WHY ‘THE ZEMBLAN’?

Zembla is a place imagined by the deluded narrator of Vladimir Nabokov’s 1962 novel Pale Fire. It is the ‘distant northern land’ of which he imagined himself to be the exiled King. Think of this blog as it’s newsletter. (Ok, so revisiting this I realise that it’s become pretty much obsolete, but try to appreciate the naive intellectual aspirations I had when I started the whole thing.)

WHY SHOULD I READ YOUR BLOG?

You should read The Zemblan because I want you to, and because it will provide you with hours of scroll-a-rific procrastination.

YOU’RE REALLY ANNOYING AND PRETENTIOUS.

Yeah, probably.

YOU USE A LOT OF BRACKETS.

Using perfect grammar is exhausting.

EVERYONE HAS A BLOG NOWADAYS. WHAT MAKES YOURS DIFFERENT?

I don’t know if it is, but read it and you might decide for yourself.
